Parga in Greece is a small cozy town in the mainland of Greece even though it feels like you are on an Island. Parga is located 1 hour and 15 minutes from the airport in Preveza. I went from the Preveza airport to Parga with the chartered bus that came with the package trip. But I was told that a taxi would cost around 50 Euros if you are on your own.
Restaurants in Parga Greece
There is a variety of restaurants in Parga. Both down in the harbor and also on the walk near the Parga castle above the Valtos Beach. The staff is very friendly and you will usually get some desert or liquor after you asked for the bill. Normally they will give you some raki, ouzo, youghurt with honey or fresh fruit.
Nighlife in Parga
There are no real nightclubs in Parga but several cocktailbars. Some of the close the doors after midnight to be able to continue playing loud dance music and keep open till late… late. Whichever bar or restaurant you decide to visit you will more or less be guaranteed to have a perfect view over the beautiful Parga harbor.
Wifi / Internet access in Parga
Don’t be afraid for not being connected. More or less every hotel, restaurant and bar has free wifi. So you can share you experience with family and friends without trouble.
Acheron and the River Styx
I can highly recommend going on one of the trips to Acheron or the river Styx as it was called in the Greek mythology. It was here Achilles was dipped into the river to make him immortal. But his mother held him in his heel and forgot to dip it. As a result the heel was the only place on Achilles body where he could be wounded. Thereof the expression “The Achilles heel” for the week spot of a person.
When you arrive to the river you will be able to walk upstream through the icy cold and crystal clear water. There is water coming out of the rocks that has been pouring from the top of the mountain and is therefore very cold. But as you walk upstream surprisingly it becomes warmer. There are parts where you need to swim or even struggle your way forward with the help of the rocks, so be careful if you are considering to bring the camera to get a shot of the beautiful nature.
