Upgrades at Scandic Triangeln Malmö

At check-in we where offered an upgrade for an extra 300 SEK. This would get us into a penthouse room with bathrobes, indoor shoes and special beauty products. Finally in the room there were only a bathrobe and shoes to one person even though we were two people checking in. And the beauty products were big bottles used for evey gues while we where naivly thinking it would be bottles we could bring with us home :). So my advice is not to choose the upgrade if it is not specially for the exrta space I suppose this room offered.

The room

Out hotel room at Scandic Triangeln was spacious and nicly decorated. We had a nice view over the city so in case of an upgrade maybe you can ask for just this. Nice beds, chairs and tables. Complemtary coffe and tee. The minibar was empty though which was a bit of a surprise.

Lund

Lund is a small cozy city near Malmö, Sweden thirs biggset city. Lund is famous for its University and research park Ideon where many large cap companies like Sony, Ericsson, Axis and Gambro have offices.

Dalby stenbrott

Dalby stenbrott is a water filled quarry located in the southern part of Sweden called Skåne, close to the city Malmö. This is a must visit place in the summer when it is possible to take a refreshing swim in the clear, fresh, sweet water. Young people come here to hang out, swim, barbeque and jump from the cliffs. Try it out if you have the guts :). If you bring a tent you can stay the night just above the water. In Sweden it is possible to camp more or less wherever you want. This is called “Allemansrätten” which translates to something like “All Mans Right”. Please respect this and clean up after yourself when You leave the place.

To get to Dalby stenbrott you can take a bus from Lund. To find bus lines and departures visit Skånetrafikens site http://www.skanetrafiken.se and enter “From: Lund C” and “To:Knivsåsen” (To = Till, and From = Till in Swedish). In the moment of writing this post the buss to catch is SkåneExpressen 6.

Hamburg

Hamburg is situated in the north of Germany and has a lot to offer of shopping and partying. We stayed in an area called George Town which turned out to be an area popular among the gay people. When exiting the hotel we saw a variety of sex shops and found it surprising that they where all more or less gay oriented. Hamburg also has the famous (or infamous) street Reeperbahn, which we almost found to be like downtown Las Vegas. Lots of strip bars, sex shops and live sex shows. Read more about Reperbahn at this site dedicated only to the Reperbahn area: http://www.reeperbahn.org.uk/ .

Chania Crete

Image of the beach in Chania on the Island of Crete.

Information about Chania Crete.

You have several nice locations along the cost of Chania Crete. Chania town is a very nice and cozy place to visit and explore. Narrow stre

ets and many nice restaurants in the harbor.

Along the coast when you leave Chania town you will find the touristic part called Platanias. Platanias is filled with restaurants, bars and night clubs. Many scandinavian tourists come here in the summer. A bit further away from Chania you will find the small calm place called Valeme. If you want a calm vacation and just lie in the sun and swim in the ocean I can highly recommend Valeme. There are not that much tourists as in Platanias and you feel very welcome and appreciated.

Diving in Chania Crete

It might come as a surprise but the sea outside Chania offers quite some nice diving. The staff came and picked me up as I was living a few miles from the dive shop. I got to go diving with a mixed group of Swedes, Danes and Germans. I went diving with the dive shop: http://www.blueadventuresdiving.gr/.

Parga Greece

Parga Greece

Parga in Greece is a small cozy town in the mainland of Greece even though it feels like you are on an Island. Parga is located 1 hour and 15 minutes from the airport in Preveza. I went from the Preveza airport to Parga with the chartered bus that came with the package trip. But I was told that a taxi would cost around 50 Euros if you are on your own.

Restaurants in Parga Greece

There is a variety of restaurants in Parga. Both down in the harbor and also on the walk near the Parga castle above the Valtos Beach. The staff is very friendly and you will usually get some desert or liquor after you asked for the bill. Normally they will give you some raki, ouzo, youghurt with honey or fresh fruit.

Nighlife in Parga

There are no real nightclubs in Parga but several cocktailbars. Some of the close the doors after midnight to be able to continue playing loud dance music and keep open till late… late. Whichever bar or restaurant you decide to visit you will more or less be guaranteed to have a perfect view over the beautiful Parga harbor.

Wifi / Internet access in Parga

Don’t be afraid for not being connected. More or less every hotel, restaurant and bar has free wifi. So you can share you experience with family and friends without trouble.

Acheron and the River Styx

I can highly recommend going on one of the trips to Acheron or the river Styx as it was called in the Greek mythology. It was here Achilles was dipped into the river to make him immortal. But his mother held him in his heel and forgot to dip it. As a result the heel was the only place on Achilles body where he could be wounded. Thereof the expression “The Achilles heel” for the week spot of a person.

When you arrive to the river you will be able to walk upstream through the icy cold and crystal clear water. There is water coming out of the rocks that has been pouring from the top of the mountain and is therefore very cold. But as you walk upstream surprisingly it becomes warmer. There are parts where you need to swim or even struggle your way forward with the help of the rocks, so be careful if you are considering to bring the camera to get a shot of the beautiful nature.
